Volleyball loses 3-1 at Kalamazoo College on Friday evening

The Alma College Volleyball team traveled to Kalamazoo on Friday night and dropped a 3-1 (25-22, 16-25, 22-25, 23-25) decision to the Hornets. The loss dropped the Scots to 12-9 on the season and 5-4 in the MIAA, while Kalamazoo is now 6-13 in 2012 and 2-7 in the league.

"We played the best we have in weeks," said Scots Head Coach Sarah Dehring. "But, Kalamazoo played extremely well and we now need to focus on tomorrow's match against Olivet before heading into our bye week."

So. S/DS Tricia Smith (Morley-Stanwood, Mich./Morley-Stanwood) led Alma with 17 assists, while Jr. S Erika VanHavel (Mason, Mich./Mason) was next with 13 assists. So. RS Tessa Rademacher (Westphalia, Mich./Pewamo-Westphalia) paced the Scots with 10 kills, while Jr. Rebecca Trosper (Plano, Tex./Lutheran North) and Jr. OH/DS Kelly Maise (Northville, Mich./Northville) each had nine kills on the evening.

Maise had a team-high 17 digs and Sr. OH/DS Katie Bourbonnais (Niles, Mich./Niles) added 14 digs and seven kills.

The Scots host Olivet College at Noon on Saturday at Art Smith Arena as part of Homecoming 2012 on the Alma College campus.
