Alma Volleyball loses 3-1 to Ohio Northern in final game of Wittenberg Tournament

Give the Alma College Volleyball team credit for playing in the toughest competitions around, but that does not mean easy victories. The Scots finished play in the Wittenberg University Tournament on Saturday, and even though there were many positives, Alma came away with a 1-3 overall record. Overall on the season, the team is now 7-4, including 2-1 in MIAA play.

"It was a tough weekend all around for us," said Scots Head Coach Sarah Dehring. "We truly saw many of the best teams in the country and are able to appreciate what it takes to get to the next level. We are still attempting to find our best line-up and we played several different combinations during the weekend. The biggest thing to remember is that it does not matter how you start the season - the bottom line is how you finish. That is our focus moving forward and we will find the best line-up to get us where want to go this year."

In the first Alma match on Friday, Alma defeated Mt. St. Joseph 3-2 (24-26, 20-25, 30-28, 25-17 and 15-12). The Scots then lost to Heidelberg University 3-1 (15-25, 25-19, 15-25, 10-25). On Saturday, Alma lost to Otterbein 3-0 (21-25, 10-25, 17-25) in the morning, before dropping a 3-1 decision to Ohio Northern in the afternoon (21-25, 19-25, 25-20, 20-25).
