The Alma College Volleyball team was in Dallas, Texas on Friday for the first day of a tournament and had a successful afternoon, as they defeated Kean University (N.J.) and Westminster College (Mo.) by identical 3-0 scores.
"I thought today was a good experience for us all around," said Scots Head Coach Sarah Dehring. "We were able to use a lot of players in different combinations and we had success. Tomorrow will bring two more challenges for us and we are excited to get our JV involved as well. This has been, and will continue to be, a great trip for us as a team and will be something for us to build upon."
Against Kean in the day's first match, the Scots took control early and won the first two matches 25-10 and 25-12 respectively, before closing it out with a 25-22 decision in the third match. In the afternoon's second match, Alma beat Westminster 25-11 and 25-14 in the first two matches and culminated the day with a 25-19 victory in the third match.
On Saturday, the Scots will play Austin College (Tex.) at 3:00 p.m. before concluding the tournament against host University of Dallas at 6:00 p.m. The Scots will then head back to Michigan and get ready for their MIAA opener on Tuesday night against league rival Kalamazoo College. That match is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. at Art Smith Arena.
