Scots Women's Soccer is beaten by Kalamazoo 5-0 on Saturday

Senior Day 2012 did not go according to script, as the Alma College Women's Soccer team dropped its third-straight contest on Saturday falling to Kalamazoo College 5-0. On a day celebrating the last home game for seniors D Brittany Dulyea (East Kentwood, Mich./East Kentwood) and M/F Danielle Hicks (Marshall, Mich./Marshall), the end result was not what everyone had in mind.

The Scots, now 10-5-2 overall and 7-4-2 in the MIAA trailed just 1-0 at the half but gave up four goals in the final 30 minutes of play to the Hornets, who improved to 9-5-2 in 2012 and 7-4-2 in the league.

Kalamazoo's Maya Smolcic opened the scoring at the 10:07 mark to give the visitors a 1-0 lead at the half. In the second half, the Hornets scored four goals between the 58:33 mark and the 83:59 mark to put the game away.

Both teams totaled 13 shots for the match with Kalamazoo College putting nine of its 13 shots on net. Alma had four shots on goal in the loss, led by Fr. M Danielle Partyka (Washington, Mich./Bishop Foley), who had two.

So. GK Morgan Waier (Grand Blanc, Mich./Grand Blanc) gave up four of the five goals and recorded four saves for the Scots during the afternoon.

Alma College hits the road for a game at Saint Mary's College on Tuesday as the fight for the four-team league playoff kicks into high gear for the last week and half of the regular season.
