Scots Women's Soccer ranked #24 in the country in latest NSCAA poll
For the first time in school history, the Alma College Women's Soccer team is ranked nationally in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) weekly poll. In the NSCAA/Continental Tire Division III National poll released today, the Scots, who are 6-1-1 on the season, are ranked #24 in the country.
"Being recognized in the national poll for the first time is an honor and it demonstrates that people are taking serious notice of our soccer program," said Alma Head Coach Jeff Hosler. "This is a representation of many talented players that have put in tremendous work to elevate our program over the years. This year's team has seized the opportunity by their performance on the field.
"We know that at the end of the day, this is not what we will reflect back on to evaluate whether our season was a success or not, but it is cool to be recognized. We have a lot of work to do and are looking forward to three very talented MIAA opponents this week."
On Wednesday, the Scots are hosting Hope College in a battle for first place in the MIAA as Alma is one point ahead of the Flying Dutch heading into the contest. The Scots enter the game with a league record of 3-0-1, while Hope is 3-0. Other games for Alma this week include a night game at Kalamazoo on Thursday and a home date with Trine on Saturday afternoon.
