The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Alma So. F Mackenzie Smith as its Offensive Player of the Week in women's soccer for games played through Sept. 9.
Smith, a sophomore from Saginaw (Nouvel Catholic Central HS), scored four goals in leading the Scots to a pair of nonconference wins. She scored the game's first goal in a 2-1 win over nationally-ranked California-Santa Cruz, then scored three consecutive goals, including the tiebreaking goal late in the first half, in a 4-1 victory over DePauw, Ind. Smith is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time in her career.
Hope defender Kelsey Grasman was named Defensive Player of the Week.
