Alma Wrestling took part in Muskegon Open on Saturday

The second-year Alma College Wrestling program took part in the Muskegon Open on Saturday and had a very successful competition. There were no final team scores recorded but the Scots had some very impressive individual results on the day.

"It was a great day for us as we crowned three champions after coming to this event last year and not havind anyone finish first," said Scots Head Coach Todd Hibbs. "All in all, we had a very successful weekend and now we will have a good week of training before taking part in the Olivet duals next week."

The Scots had three wrestlers win championships during the competition - Fr. Caleb Huff (Sturgis, Mich./Sturgis) at 149 pounds, So. Jared Groeneveld (Allendale, Mich./Allendale) at 184 and Fr. Adam Robinson (Mason, Mich./Mason) at heavyweight.

In addition, Alma had six grapplers earn top four finishes on Saturday - Fr. Shawn Brewer (New Boston, Mich./Huron) at 157, Fr. Gabriel Costanzo (Walled Lake, Mich./Western) at 141, So. Collin Lesko (Tecumseh, Mich./Tecumseh) at 125, Fr. Trevor Maresh (Northville, Mich./Northville) at 197, So. Paul Mikhjian (Rochester Hills, Mich./Rochester Adams) at 184 and Sr. Matt Tuttle (Reading, Mich./Reading) at 165.

Alma will next compete on Saturday, November 17, when they take part in the Olivet Duals beginning at 10:00 a.m.
