The Men's Soccer team hit the road on Saturday for a game at Calvin College and dropped a 3-0 decision to the host Knights. With the defeat, the Scots are now 1-5-1 in the MIAA and 5-7-1 overall, while Calvin improved to 6-1 in the league and 8-3 in 2012.
The talented Knights held the Scots at bay for most of the contest and finished with a shot edge of 24-6, including nine to one in shots on goal. Calvin scored first at 3:13 to take the early 1-0 lead and increased their advantage to 2-0 at the 22:40 mark.
The second half was more of the same as the home team clamped down on the visitors, not allowing any sustained offensive push. The Knights scored the only goal of the half at 67:32 and had more than enough to walk off the pitch with the 3-0 victory.
Jr. GK Graham Wallace (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Eastern) had six saves for the Scots in the loss and So. M/F Michael Smith (Saginaw, Mich./Nouvel Catholic) tallied the only shot on goal against the Calvin netminder.
Alma will host Albion College on Wednesday afternoon at Scotland Yard. The match is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
