Men's Golf finishes 4th; 1st amongst NCAA schools at Olivet's Lou Collins Memorial

Men's golf got of to a fine start this weekend. Once again the Scots were led by All American So. Marty Predemsky (Graham, NC/Graham). His 70-72 score earned him runnerup medalist and a place on the all tourney
team.

Sr. Greg Silverthorn (Shepherd, Mich./Shepherd) shot a personal best score of 71 Saturday after a 77 on Friday. He had the fourth best overall score and was also named to the all tournament team. Jr. Jake Moran (Sterling Heights, Mich./Henry Ford II) fired an 80 both days while Sr. Chris Williamson (Fowlerville, Mich./Fowlerville) added an 83-84 for the weekend. Fr. Dalton Potter (Grandville, Mich./Grandville) had scores of 91 and 80 and played well Saturday for the Scots.

"It was a very good start to our season and Marty was just being Marty," said Alma Head Coach Charlie Goffnett." "He is unbelievable as he has been working 60 hours a week as a paramedic, and has had little time for golf. But, he just rolled in and fired lasers. I have also really been impressed with Greg's game this fall.

"His 71 on Saturday with five sand saves was incredible. The scary thing is that Jake and Chris were not really sharp this weekend but they have been shooting some very fine scores in practice. As well as we played there is room for even lower team scores. Dalton's 80 on Saturday was a welcome sight. We need a fifth guy that can shoot a score if one of ourtop guys as an off day."

Alma opens up league play next Saturday, September 8 at Kalamazoo College.
