Men's Basketball defeated Albion College on Saturday afternoon, 80-74 in overtime
The Alma College Men's Basketball team traveled to Albion College on Saturday for an MIAA contest and came away with a thrilling 80-74 overtime victory. The second consecutive win for the Scots improved the team to 2-4 in the MIAA and 6-11 overall, while the Britons fell to 3-3 in the league and 7-10 in 2011-12.
"What a game - this was a win that is a credit to our defense and rebounding," said Alma Head Coach Sam Hargraves. "We've been preaching it all year and we continue to get better at buying into our system. To beat such a well coached team in their gym without shooting well is really something to build upon."
A very competitive first half saw four ties, but Alma did lead by as many as seven points at the 11:45 mark, whenJr. G Dustin DeShais (Ortonville, Mich./Brandon) hit a three-pointer for a 22-15 advantage. After the Brits took a one-point lead late in the half, the Scots ultimately took a five point lead, at 32-27, into the locker room.

The home team would extend that lead to six points on three occasions before the Scots roared back to tie the contest at 51-51 on a jumper by So. G Brandon Krause (Sanford, Mich./Meridian) with 7:00 remaining.
The game remained close the rest of the way before Albion was able to get another six point lead after two free throws with 1:09 left gave them a 64-58 advantage. But the Scots outscored the Britons 7-1 in the last minute and tied the game at 65-65 on a lay-up by Krause with seven seconds remaining sent the game into overtime.
The extra period was dominated by the Scots as they did not miss a shot of any kind. They went four for four from the field, including three for three from beyond the arc and nailed all four free throw attempts, outscoring Albion 15-9 and walking off the court with the six-point win.
