Men's Basketball drops 78-73 decision to Madonna University in second game of MIAA-WHAC Challenge

The Alma Men's Basketball team lost to Madonna University on Saturday afternoon by a score of 78-73 in the second game of the MIAA-WHAC Challenge hosted by UM-Dearborn. With the loss, the Scots are now 1-2 on the 2011-12 season and will host Kuyper College at Art Smith Arena on Tuesday evening. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

The game was competitive throughout and the Scots used 48% shooting (13 of 27), including seven three-pointers to take a slim 39-38 advantage into halftime. The second half saw both teams battle with the end in doubt until the end. Alma's shooting cooled off a bit to 37% (13 of 35), with four from beyond the arc, as the Scots came up a bit short in the end. 

On the statistical side, So. F Sean Clancy (Port Austin, Mich./North Huron) led the Scots with 23 points in 25 minutes. He shot eight of 12 overall (three of four from three-point range) and added a team-high 10 rebounds.

Sr. G Cory Schneider (Carson City, Mich./Carson City-Crystal) was next with 12 points, all on three-pointers. So. F Jacob Murawske (Harbor Beach, Mich./Harbor Beach) added nine points (three from beyond the arc) in 15 minutes of action.
