Scots Football team hits the field for the first time in 2012

Under weather conditions that were more like late October than early August, the 2012 Alma College Football team hit Bahlke Field for the first time this season Friday afternoon. Under new Head Coach Greg Pscodna, the Scots went through a two-hour workout in driving rain and temperatures in the upper 50's.

"The weather wasn't great, but we were very excited to get out on the field for the first time," said Pscodna. "The guys were focused and did a nice job in tough conditions. We did some individual drills, group work and also started to introduce brand new offensive and defensive schemes. These first few days will feature a lot of teaching and individual coaching to get the players comfortable with the systems."

123 total players, including over 70 freshmen, reported to camp on Friday in preparation for the 2012 season. The Scots' coaching staff put the team through basic drills and testing on the first day of camp.

The team will practice one time each of the next three days and then will don full pads on Tuesday morning, with Wednesday being the first day with two workouts.

Alma begins the season on September 1st , when they host Heidelberg University at Bahlke Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
